The Geek’s Spyzooka Review:
Spyzooka is the “new kid on the block” in the world of Spyware and Adware removers and has made a name for itself when it earned a 5 start rating from Tucows. Spyzooka was developed by Carl Hangen and his software company BluePenguin. Hangen, a former victim of identity theft knows exactly what’s at stake and his own experiences of being hacked has taught him to create what he believes to be “the best anti spyware in the world”.
Spyzooka really believes in its effectiveness and they offer a 100% guarantee that it WILL remove all your spyware and adware – or you get your money back. For this very reason their support is really good and they are on the ball. Their technical support runs 24/7 and they usually respond within a couple of hours. If you ever had that feeling that you just want to pull your hair out because you just can’t get something to work, then this will be a real lifeline.
One of their best features is the fact that they are a “small guy”. They’ve built a feature into the software that can send scan logs to their technical support. If you come across any adware or spyware that it can’t remove it will send it to them and then they will incorporate it into their next update – which happens almost every day. This is one way which allows them to maintain their 100% guarantee.
Because their user base is quite small, they have to rely on other spyware and adware databases to maintain their definition signitures. Although it’s pretty good, it’s probably not as extensive as something like Spyware Nuker which has nearly 8.6 million users that constantly feed new adware and spyware information back to their central database.
Spyzooka’s scanner is probably the most accurate and unlike other adware and spyware software, it doesn’t scan for infected files, but it scans a level deeper to detect infections at the root level. A Spyzooka scan will probably detect less infections than scans with other software, but this doesn’t really mean anything in terms of its effectiveness. In fact, Spyzooka’s best features are probably it’s scanning and detecting features.
Spyzooka’s interface is a bit clumsy and not that intuitive. It does take a bit of getting used to before you will know exactly how to use it. Hopefully their next update will revamp the user interface and streamline some of the functions. Spyzooka’s real-time protection, SpyGaurd works directly with your web browser (supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Opera and Google Chrome) but it does leave some holes and is not as good as it’s scanning and removing capabilities. Spyzooka is pretty good value for money and if you’ve been running an unprotected PC that’s swamped with adware and spyware, Spyzooka will be a great tool for you.
Best Features:
• Spyzooka is great at detecting infected files and finding spyware and adware.
• Highly recommended by many experts - mainly because their detection technology is so unique and effective.
• 100% guarantee that it will remove ALL your adware and spyware (or your money back).
• A Free Guide that shows you how to optimize your computer’s speed. (this is really useful – even for more advanced users)
• Automatic updates and updates every day.
• Their support and technical help is great and they will go out of their way to help you (and to prevent you from taking them up on their 100% guarantee ?)
Worse features:
• The interface and navigation is a bit clumsy
• The SpyGuard feature has some “holes” as its main focus is protecting your web browser
• It has quite a heavy footprint which can slow down older computers
• When you buy the full version, your license is only valid for one year.
